"THERMAL INSTRUMENTATION AND METROLOGY FOR MICRO/NANO: FUNDAMENTALS AND APPLICATIONS"

«  This scientific school is organized in the frame of the European CNRS network (GDR 2503) « Thermal Nanoscience and Nanoengineering » by its pillar "Advanced Thermal Metrologies". It is also supported by the European Project FP7-NMP-2013-LARGE-7 QuantiHeat dedicated to Quantitative Thermal Metrology at nanoscale. It is open to all scientists and inividuals interested in this topic.  »

 

Many thermal engineering problems require the development of quantitative experimental methods at micro/nanoscales. Regarding applications, scientific and commercial activities of many industries such as semiconductor electronics, aerospace, information and communication technologies are implicitly and seriously limited by thermal effects. Many micro- and nanosystems such as MEMS/NEMS, new recovery or energy conversion devices (e.g. thermoelectric ones), etc. being currently considered in these areas were first developed from technologies of microelectronics (thin film technologies, micro and nanopatterning ...) and raise similar problems: they increasingly need means to provide materials with revolutionary physical properties, which also require the development of new metrologies especially dedicated to nanoscale. Only the understanding and control of these effects will allow a precise modelling of heat transfer in next-generation systems and the prediction of their thermal behaviors. They are essential for the improvement of the designs, quality and safety systems. In this context, the goal of this school is to gather and disseminate knowledge addressing thermal metrology at very small scales, and the issue of thermal management in various applications involving materials, objects and nanostructured systems, such as nanoporous nanocomposite materials including polymers and micro and nanoelectronic systems.

  • By railways : TGV to Saint Raphaël (3 km – 2 miles from Fréjus) 
  • By roads : Michelin road maps n° 84 and n° 245. A8 leave Fréjus, head for Cannes (N7 and N98).
  • By plane : Nice (70 km – 45 miles), Toulon (90 km – 55 miles), Marseille (140 km – 85 miles)     

From the airport to Villa Clythia:

- Bus Varlib N°3003 from the airport to Fréjus/St Raphaël: see schedule. Once arrived at Saint-Raphaël train station: shuttle organized for people who have informed the organisators (see table attached).

A free shuttle service is provided for people registered on the table attached at 15:30 / 16:00 / 18:30.
